I’m curious about the Mister Italia crown you won in your home country.
Throughout the year, I had the opportunity to attend several castings, and since I’ve been involved in the fashion and entertainment industries, I decided to give it a shot. The selection process started online, followed by callbacks. After that, there were elimination rounds until the remaining 90 contestants representing various regions of Italy gathered at a resort for five days. During this time, we rehearsed, participated in interviews with judges, completed photoshoots, and prepared for catwalks. The pre-final was the pivotal moment—out of 90 contestants, only 40 advanced to the grand finale, which was broadcast on one of Italy’s major TV channels and featured in the most important national newspapers and magazines.
How did you get involved in the Mister Universe competition?
I was aware of the Mister Universe pageant, but it was through the Mister Italia organization that I had the opportunity to participate. While winning a national pageant is not a strict requirement to compete internationally, it is often the case as it provides a natural progression from national to global stages, just as it did for many of the other contestants, myself included.
How was your experience with Mister Universe?
Camaraderie. This is one aspect I truly want to highlight. It’s not often that you experience such a strong sense of unity… of brotherhood. We genuinely supported and cheered for each other throughout the event, before, during, and after being on stage. It made the experience even more special.
How was it coming to the city of Los Angeles? You mentioned that you teared up at the Hollywood sign: what about LA is so significant to you?
LA has always held a special place in my heart. There’s something magical about the city—the energy, the iconic Californian atmosphere, and the inspiring people you meet. Having grown up watching countless movies set in LA, being there felt surreal, like a dream come true. I even had the chance to take some incredible pictures near the Hollywood sign. For me, as someone passionate about cinema, Los Angeles is pure inspiration.
You are also dabbling in acting, drawing inspiration from Sylvester Stallone and Emma Stone. Let’s talk about your past work and your upcoming projects.
I’ve always been passionate about cinema. Growing up, I was fascinated by films and eventually had the chance to study and put my passion into practice. I’ve worked as a model on fashion campaigns, catwalks, and photoshoots, and as an actor in commercials and short films, usually in lead roles. Currently, I’m cast in an Italian feature film, set to release in 2025, and I have several other exciting projects on the way.
Participating in Mister Universe inspired me to push myself further, and I look forward to what’s next. As for Stallone and Stone, they remain my all-time favorite actors!
You hold a degree in nutrition—what made you pursue studying this subject?
I am currently pursuing a second degree in nutrition. I’ve also created a social media profile (@matteodallosto_nutrizione) to share nutritional advice and promote a healthy lifestyle. My goal is to integrate this project with my personal profile (@matteo_dall_osto), as I believe self-care both internal and external is deeply connected to this field. A year ago, I also started developing my own website, which allows me to maximize my time while still participating in castings and entertainment projects. I’m excited to continue bridging these two passions and taking them to the next level.
What is the most memorable experience you have had in the fashion/modeling industry: any fashion campaign, runway show or commercial that left a particularly lasting impression?
One of the most unforgettable experiences was in Egypt at the Domina Coral Bay, a luxurious resort on the Red Sea. I was there with other finalists from the Mister Universe pageant, and we reconnected during a stunning fashion campaign. I had beautiful, tailored suits by Italian brands and shot photos both inside the resort and out in the desert. One evening, we even did a safari shoot under the stars! I also had some fun moments with camels and a cheeky monkey, though I drew the line at wrapping a massive python around my neck!
This experience perfectly captures why I love my job. It allows me to meet people, explore new cultures, and work on projects that enrich my career.
With such a busy schedule between nutrition, fitness, acting, modeling, and pageantry, do you find time to date?
You’re absolutely right and this is a great question. Yes, I’m quite busy, and I’m currently single. It’s not that I don’t want a relationship; it’s just that I haven’t felt that spark with anyone I’ve met recently. To add some context, I was in a relationship two years ago, but I’ve been focusing on my career and personal growth since.
That said, I make sure to get some time for myself by reading, meditating, walking, and spending time with family and close friends.
Managing my time effectively is important, but I’ve also learned the importance of staying flexible and not putting too much pressure on myself and it’s something I want to carry into 2025.
My advice to others is simple: strive for balance, follow your passions, and enjoy the journey every step of the way.
