The Ten Sexiest Rockers of 1990

Playgirl‘s discerning editors have mixed up 3 subjects near and dear to their hearts —men (naturally), music and sex appeal— and concocted a rock’n’roll fantasy…

Put it this way: if we were talking sports, it’s these glamour boys we’d want on our team. Why, you ask? So we could watch them strut for one thing. So we could salivate up-close and in-person over their jam-packed jeans, tousled tresses and fab faces for another. We know it’s only rock’n’roll, but all the fantasies it’s inspired! Without further ado, here are the ten music mavens who set our hearts (ahem) aflutter in 1990. It was something in the way they… moved. Yeah, that’s it.

Mick Jagger

What kind of impact would Mick Jagger have on women if he wasn’t the leader of the World’s Greatest Rock’n’Roll Band? Granted his worldwide notoriety (and money) would disappear from the picture. He’d no longer make the front pages for taking a walk or basking in the late-day sun. But when it comes to the fairer sex, we’d bet that Mick Jagger, unknown Englishman, would affect them in much the same way that that Mick Jagger, rock star, does. We know this wiry body, gaunt countenance and —shall we say— generous lips are not by definition ‘pretty.’ But somehow, the combination —injected with a healthy dose of attitude— works real well. Please Mick, let’s spend the night together!

Steven Tyler

We don’t know many females who look as good in a G-string as Steven Tyler does in his. But ‘sexy’ becomes him —the 42-year-old lead vocalist of Aerosmith is one of those guys who doesn’t even have to work at it. And to the delight of generation of fans, Tyler revels in his pouting and posing, often blurring gender lines with his androgynous appeal. Catch him in concert and is a one-man dervish, suggestively pumping his mike stand and licking his gargantuan lips with X-rated lechery. Never one to mince words, only Steven could have made a national anthem of a song called “Big Ten-Inch Record.” And though we liked him then, we’re positively enamored of the new, improved and sober Steve Tyler. By going public with his personal battle against drug and alcohol abuse, he’s a rock star who’s making a difference. As far as we’re concerned, there’s nothing sexier than that…
