Up Close with Hunter Warr

Who’s Hunter?

I’m a man shaped by my values, my upbringing, and the life I’ve lived so far. Who I am isn’t defined by what I do — it’s my principles, and the way I move through the world. I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I know my foundation, what I stand for, and what I want in life. The rest, I’m building day by day. My journey has been intense. I’ve lost people I never thought I would, including a best friend/cousin at a young age, one of my biggest role models.

I’m a Southern man at heart. My mom would say I’ve got a dry sense of humor, that I’m outgoing when I choose to be, but I find my peace at home in the quiet comfort of those four walls with my dog, Lola. I care deeply about the people around me, sometimes more than I should. I carry my own struggles quietly, letting life’s challenges roll off my back, but I also know when it’s time to stand up, speak up, or act. I will defend the people I love physically or emotionally to my last breath. I live by my word. I believe in giving more than I take. I’m loyal, dependable, and steadfast. At the end of the day, I’d give the shirt off my back to help someone, even if it were the last one I had. That’s who I am, and that’s the journey that’s brought me here so far.

Who’s your favorite actor?

Matthew McConaughey because of his range, authenticity, ruggedness, and reflective, philosophical approach to life. You see all of this in the characters he plays, but also in the way he lives speaking openly about lessons, growth, and self-discovery while remaining loyal to his family and friends. He doesn’t seek pity; he acknowledges struggles honestly, and stands strong through them. That’s something I deeply admire and relate to in my own life.

Which living person do you most admire?

I’ve admired a lot of people in my life — my mother, my stepfather whose last name I carry by choice, athletes, actors, singers, and coaches. But at this moment, the person I admire most is my grandfather, PJ. He’s taught me so much about life, how to love deeply but gently, how a man’s value comes not from what he owns but from his word. He worked incredibly hard his whole life and showed me that the effort you put in is what you get out. He also taught me that respect is earned and given through the way you treat others, no matter the situation. Everything I am and everything I strive to be carries pieces of the lessons he instilled in me.

What is the accomplishment you’re proudest of?

This might not be the answer people expect. While I’m proud of my work, magazine shoots, music videos, fashion campaigns, walking in NYFW, I think what I’m most proud of is who I’ve become through the turmoil of life. More people should recognize and be proud of how far they’ve come, and what they’ve survived. Life isn’t easy; it tries every day to tear you down. But I’ve never given up, and I’ve never let the challenges I’ve faced define me. That’s what I’m most proud of my ability to keep moving forward, no matter what comes my way.

What is your favorite movie?

Good Will Hunting.

Where would you like to live?

I don’t have a specific place I want to live right now, but I know I want some land, a few animals, a solid house, and a truck. If I had to pick a spot, I’d probably say Tennessee, it has a little bit of everything I love.

Who’s your favorite singer?

My favorite singer right now is Riley Green, a country singer. Of all time… so many great singers come to mind like Frank Sintra, Billy Joel, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Nicks and so many more.

What is it that you most dislike?

One thing I truly dislike is when someone is rude to service workers. Those are the people showing up every day to take care of you in some way, to make your life a little easier. I was raised to believe a man’s character shows in how he treats people, especially those who are there to help you or work for you. Everyone’s fighting battles you can’t see, and respect shouldn’t depend on someone’s job title. It costs nothing to treat people with decency.

What is your favorite travel destination?

Hawaii. The land, the ocean, the slower pace, it all reminds me of what really matters and forces you to slow down. And, come on, I love to surf and this is where I fell in love with it.

If you could change one thing about your body, what would you change?

I think we all see things we’d like to change about ourselves, I’ve got my share of flaws too. But I’ve learned not to dwell on them. Some things you can’t change, and the goal is to accept that and move forward with confidence. If I had to pick something, it would probably be my teeth, more specifically the strength of them. Years of grinding have taken a toll, and I’ve chipped two in the last few months. And I am someone who does not love the dentist, so that has kind of been a bummer.

What do you like and what do you hate about modeling?

Modeling has given me more than a job, it’s given me perspective. The creativity, the people, the cultures I’ve experienced, the countries I’ve traveled to, all of it has shaped me. I’ve gained life experience I don’t think I could have found anywhere else, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting some of the most influential icons in fashion. I don’t take that lightly.

Your favorite cuisine?

Cajun food. It’s the food of my state, it’s home. It’s bold, full of flavor, and built on tradition. Every dish carries history, family, and culture with it. For me, it’s more than just food, it’s where I come from. And to me, nothing beats a crawfish boil.

Who is the fashion model you look up to the most?

I don’t have many fashion models I look up to, but I’ve followed Lucky Blue Smith’s

career since I was a kid. Seeing how he navigated success at a young age and evolved over time is something I’ve respected along with a couple other models too.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.

I’ve recently started exploring acting. It’s something I’ve been intrigued by for a while, and I’m excited to be taking classes and developing my skills. I love the idea of stepping into different characters and telling stories, and I hope that in the future, people might see me performing in a scene somewhere.
