Our Love Affair with Daytime Hunks

Soap studs have graced Playgirl’s covers since the ‘80s. Sometimes twice: The Young and the Restless’ Don Diamont graced the March 1988 cover and then again February 1995; General Hospital’s Ingo Rademacher the December 1998 cover and then again February 2000. General Hospital boasts a number of iconic covers, including Antonio Sabato’s (soaping up in the April 1993 issue), Sean Kanan’s (October 1993) and Steve Burton’s (April 1995). But it’s Days of our Lives the soap that has racked up the most covers over the years –and the steamiest: look at Matt Mahaney, in the “Wet Issue” (August 2000), or at “devilish” Jason Brooks (December 1995), or at “naughty” Victor Webster, wearing nothing but a white speedo (January 2000). What’s not to love about them? They’re some of the sexiest (and often shirtless) men alive, they happily embrace their sex-symbol status, they ignite our fantasies.

In the December 1994 issue, Judy Cole profiled Days’ “Hot New Soap Studs”. “Meet daytime’s next generation of men to be reckoned with,” she wrote. “The youngest new face on Days these days belongs to 23-year-old Bryan Dattilo (…) Bryan has already had his share of romantic intrigue on the show. In fact, his very first on-camera appearance was a love scene.”  We couldn’t be happier to bring Bryan back, three decades later, for our April 2024 cover story—what a testament to his staying power.  And prouder to gather five of Days’ hunks for one unforgettable group pictorial. That’s a first, even for Playgirl!
